Stephanie SchlechtSEC Steering CommitteeStephanie Schlecht hails from Madison, Wisconsin where she grew up in a family of farmers and entrepreneurs. She found her first calling as a teacher, and taught on the Navajo Reservation and at an international school in Honduras for four years. Her interest in sustainable development and organizational leadership led her to Thunderbird, School of Global Management where she completed her MBA. Stephanie has found her second calling in recent years--which is to help change the way we think about the role of business in society. She adheres to the belief that enterprises have a unique opportunity to create business value while simultaneously meeting the needs of society and the natural environment. To help companies see this value, Stephanie developed an innovative communications framework for companies seeking to engage more effectively with their internal and external stakeholders. This framework has been adopted by an international non-profit and will be used this year by Intel in order to enhance its corporate citizenship reporting efforts. Having recently relocated to Sonoma County, Stephanie is excited about broadening her network, contributing her skills and experiences to an organization, and collaborating with others to strengthen the case for sustainability. |
