Promoting sustainable living through inspirational environmental education.
Founded in 1998, the Solar Living Institute (SLI) is a 501c3 non-profit institution with a national reputation for solar training and sustainable living education. The mission of the SLI is to promote sustainable living through inspirational environmental education.Our programs include onsite solar photovoltaic (NABCEP approved) and sustainable living classes, online solar PV courses (NABCEP approved), Kid's Education Program, Intern Program, and educational tours. The Institute manages the Solar Living Center, a 12-acre renewable energy and sustainable living demonstration site in Hopland , CA, that is visited by 150,000 people annually.
Sustainability Achievements:
Our Solar 2000 Photovoltaic Array provides green income for our nonprofit operation, offsets our carbon footprint and provides sustainable electrical power. Our interns, who live in natural buildings they built and eat from the organic garden they tend, continue to be strong advocates, leaders and teachers for sustainable living in their jobs and activities.
