The Transition Town Movement is a vibrant, grassroots, global movement that builds community connection and resilience in the face of economic challenges and environmental shocks. Visit us at Transition US and start building your neighborhood and community resilience today.

You can dig in this May and join the Transition Home and Garden Challenge: Plant a garden, employ energy efficiency measures in your home, conserve water or create/join a community building activity.  Register your action and see the many other actions across the country.

Join Transition US in creating a vision of a United States where every community engages its collective creativity and genius to unleash an extraordinary and historic transition to a future beyond fossil fuels: a thriving future that is more vibrant, connected and resilient; one that is ultimately preferable to the present.

Today there are thousands of Transition Town initiatives in 34 countries around the world. In the U.S. there are 135 in 34 states, with 300 others forming! All started by ordinary citizens stepping up to make their communities truly prosper, now.

Cheerful disclaimer!

Transition is a social experiment on a massive scale. We truly don't know if this will work. What we are convinced of is this:

  • If we wait for governments, it'll be too little, too late
  • If we act as individuals, it will be too little
  • but - If we act as communities, it might just be enough, just in time
